Protecting Indian Health and Human Services Programs and their Beneficiaries: The Basics of Health Care and Grants Management Compliance

May 15th and 16th at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. HHS OIG will host a Tribal/ IHS compliance training conference in May 2018 in Oklahoma. This conference is designed for officials and employees of the Indian Health Service and of any Tribal organization receiving HHS funds whose responsibilities include: (1) Protecting program funds, (2) Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and laws, (3) Submitting claims to the Federal government, (4) Internal auditing and/or maintaining documentation, and/or
(5) Overseeing the quality of services provided to beneficiaries. Attendees will (1) Learn how effective, robust compliance programs and internal controls protect federal funds and those who depend on federally funded programs, (2), Receive information on key components of an effective program to avoid violations of program requirements or applicable laws, (3) Hear about quality of care in delivering health services, and (4) Learn about OIG’s role in preventing and detecting fraud, waste, and abuse in HHS programs, including diversion of funds and criminal violations, and our mission to protect the health and welfare of program beneficiaries.
