Making Connections for Men’s Health
Movember is the only global charity focused solely on men’s health. Movember raises funds for innovative, breakthrough research and supports programs that enable men to live happier, healthier, and longer lives. “Movember” is an annual fundraising event held during the month of November. It involves, among other things, the growing of moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.
Movember’s funding has allowed SPTHB to focus on American Indian men’s health. Through a Making Connections grant from Movember, Southern Plains Tribal Health Board (SPTHB) has been able to sponsor a school-based, peer-to-peer suicide prevention program at three public schools in Anadarko, Oklahoma, a men’s health track at our annual Tribal Public Health Conference, and provide culturally based trainings and workshops that empower American Indian men and boys to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit.
Our fundraising goal for this year’s Movember campaign is $1,500. Donors will automatically be entered into drawings for one of three items by categories determined by the amount of donation value designated.
- Donations between $20 to $49: Donors will automatically be entered into a drawing for a men’s grooming kit.
- Donations between $50 to $99: Donors will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card.
- Donations $100 and over: Donors will automatically be entered into a drawing for a 7-Quart electric air fryer with 8 functions (which includes air fry, roast, broil, dehydrate, grill, bake, reheat, and keep warm), 3 stackable racks, and a recipe book.
An announcement related to the drawings will be made the first week of December.
