TOR Program Overview

The SPTHB Tribal Opioid Response Program (TOR) works closely with the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) to combat the effects of opioid misuse within the AI/AN population. We do so by promoting safe storage and disposal, providing harm reduction resources to community members and partnering organizations and tribes, and sharing crucial messaging related to opioid misuse and overdose risk. OKCIC provides medically assisted treatment, peer recovery support services, individual and group counseling, physical therapy, and culturally adapted recovery services. By providing resources, treatment and education, we also aim to reduce the stigma surrounding opioid use disorder and those affected by the disease.

Services Offered

Awareness Campaigns

The TOR staff have created an awareness campaign with various opioid use disorder (OUD) related messaging to direct community members to the TOR landing page. Once there, users can find information related to how opioids work, risk factors for developing OUD, how to recognize an overdose, and where to find resources and treatment.

Recovery in Correctional Facilities

We facilitate culturally relevant 12-step recovery groups within correctional facilities. By helping people in their recovery journey while incarcerated, they can gain the knowledge, skills and strength to continue that journey once released.

MAT Services

OKCIC provides MAT services, counseling, peer recovery support services, culturally adapted recovery group programming, and physical therapy to any tribal citizen that establishes care at the clinic.
